QGuides are for health professionals working with LGBTI people. They describe and discuss a range of common, often complex topics, to help people feel able to work with all kinds of people on LGBTI matters.
If you are interested in improving your own, or your organisation’s, ability to provide safe, accessible services to LBGTI people, click on a thumbnail to view a QGuide or download the print version.
"Where it’s sitting now is that part of me is like, yes I have marriage equality and that’s awesome. But I also think of people who are trans and other people who aren’t included yet. People were knocked. It still affects them. Hurtful things were said. When I feel strong enough I will say to them “When you said that last year, you have no idea how much it hurt”. I want to have an open and honest conversation on a level where that person doesn’t feel attacked like I did. It’s the hard road, but the better road. Doing that will stand for transparency, courage and empathy."
QLife acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia, their diversity, histories and knowledge and their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respects to all Australian Indigenous peoples and their cultures, and to Elders of past, present and future generations.
We pay our respects to those amongst the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex communities who have worked to support the improved health and wellbeing of their peers, children, families, friends, and country. We honour the elders in the diverse communities of which we are a part and we celebrate the extraordinary diversity of people's bodies, genders, sexualities, and relationships that they represent.
