"I was thinking this will be a momentous occasion, regardless of which way it goes. I liked the idea that I was going to be there at the time of the announcement. That night I went with my partner to the local Gay Hotel and remember feeling the excitement in the crowd. I recall seeing a local gay man who'd been sacked by a "Christian" school because students had discovered he's gay. I don't know him, just saw him in the crowd. It was good to be together in the excitement and supporting each other."
